Selux is proud to announce new releases Kju Circle, M60 LED My White, and Inula Bollard have all been recognized by The Next Generation Luminaires (NGL) for 2016. The winners were announced at the awards event during LIGHTFAIR® International at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, CA on April 26, 2016.

A rare occurrence for NGL to have multiple winners from one manufacturer, Selux impressed the judges with two products in the Indoor NGL Competition.

Kju Circle has been recognized in the “Pendants” category. The judges commended the color quality, dimming and aesthetics of this decorative pendant luminaire, commenting "good color," "very smooth dimming," and "clean shape and edge."

M60 My White has been recognized in the “White-Tunable” category. The judges praised the dimming and color control features of this luminaire, remarking "smooth color change and dim to low" and "bonus for color consistency while dimming."

For the Outdoor NGL Competition, Inula Bollard was recognized in the “Bollards” category. The judges were impressed with the solid construction, good glare control and even light distribution of this bollard. Some of the comments included "good design for a vandal resistant bollard" and "good glare control and distribution."

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the Illuminating Engineering Society, and the International Association of Lighting Designers, NGL was launched in 2008 to encourage technical innovation and promote excellence in the design of energy-efficient LED luminaires for commercial, industrial, and institutional applications.

The judging panel selected the luminaires on the basis of color, illuminance, glare control, light distribution, dimming control, serviceability, value, and appearance. The judging session was conducted at the facilities of Intelligent Lighting Creations outside Chicago, Illinois in February 2016 for indoor lighting, and at the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute in Blacksburg, Virginia in March 2016 for outdoor lighting.

As LED technology and product design have evolved, NGL requirements have become increasingly demanding. “The NGL bar is set high, and the tires get kicked often and hard,” said DOE SSL Program Manager Jim Brodrick. “So when the judges award a product, you know it was well earned.”
