University Library
Freiburg, Germany
The library building at the University of Freiburg is one of the largest libraries in Germany with 3.5 million printed and 1 million electronic books and 24/7 service. Recently, it underwent an energy refurbishment and upgrade, in which it was adapted to the requirements of digital learning.
Throughout the building 1,500 Purelight pendant luminaires by Selux ensure optimum, efficient lighting round-the-clock every day of the week. Elegant DALI-controlled luminaires provide state-of-the-art daylight and presence-based light control and changeover to emergency lighting mode. The 360° luminaires provide horizontal, active light for productive learning and working.
At night the interior lighting enables this distinctive building to glow resplendently from the inside outwards, thus revealing the modern bustle inside this university library.
